Program Description

The Master in International Tourism Management equips students to lead business projects in the tourism sector, developing skills that enable them to adapt to this increasingly segmented and competitive market. The Master gives students the opportunity to learn to make decisions efficiently from a business and international perspective that always embraces new technologies.

This Master is taught in English at Ostelea’s Madrid Campus. Spain is a world leader in global tourism. In 2017, the country welcomed a total of 82 million international tourists.

This Master is also taught in Spanish in Barcelona. This program has been named as one of the top 20 masters in the world in the Tourism & Hospitality category, in the Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking Worldwide 2017. The newspaper El Mundo also ranked the Master among the top 5 programs in Spain in its Best Masters league table in 2016.

Reasons to take the Master

Residential programs

  • Students have the option of taking an international residential program in Tourism at Saxion (Holland) or in Cross-Cultural Marketing at Kean University (NJ, USA) (at an additional cost).
  • Campus to Campus: Option of taking part in the program at Ostelea’s Barcelona campus. (Accommodation not included).

Attendance to sector trade fairs

  • Students have the opportunity to attend up to two relevant trade fairs in the field of business tourism held in Madrid over the course of their tuition program.

  • International faculty: Some of the contents on certain courses will be taught by lecturers from Ostelea’s partner universities and business schools.
  • Research Group: Members of the Master faculty form part of Ostelea’s Interdisciplinary Tourism Research Group (GRIT-Ostelea), the scientific output of which focuses on the field of international tourism management.

Training Plan

Ostelea’s Master in International Tourism Management is divided into 5 modules:

  • Master’s Thesis

Cloister

Fernando Ruiz Diezma completed his tourism studies at the Escuela Oficial de Turismo de Madrid (now part of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos). He later obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism from the NTHV Nationale Hogeschool in Breda (The Netherlands). He has also taken the Executive Development Program at IESE Business School and the Senior Digital Business Management Program at The Valley Digital Business School.

After doing an internship sponsored by Turismo de España to work in the Department of Tourism, he began his career in multinational companies such as American Express Corporate Travel and Horwath HTL. He also worked for six years as a Marketing Manager at the Tourist Board of the Castilla-La Mancha region.

Since 2012, he has been working as a tourism consultant at Squarefer and has been involved in international projects in countries such as Argentina and Morocco, as well as several tourism developments and marketing projects in Spain. He is also a conference speaker at various universities and business schools.

In recent years, he has obtained a Master in Philosophy and he is currently studying for his Ph.D. in Philosophy Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, researching ethics and technology.

Admission

The admission process ensures the candidates’ suitability and, as a result, all of the participants can make the very most of this learning experience.

To begin the admission process, candidates must complete the information request form.

After that, Ostelea gets in contact with the candidate to schedule an interview, to which they must bring the following documentation:

  • University qualification
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation letter
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • English certification or interview in English

After completing the interview, the Admissions Committee analyses the case of the application by case and notifies the candidate of its decision and informs them of their admission status.

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the program at the campus of Madrid will receive a Triple Qualification
  • The qualification of Master in International Tourism Management from the Ostelea, School of Tourism & Hospitality. (institutional)
  • The qualification of Master in International Tourism Management from EAE Business School. (institutional)
  • The university qualification from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.* (institutional)

In order to receive the qualifications granted by EAE and the University, participants must fulfill the requirements stipulated by these institutions.

*"Our institutional Masters, run by Ostelea Madrid in collaboration with URJC, are tuition programs that do not lead to qualification with official status".

Scholarships

Ostelea gives candidates access to grants in the form of financial aid with the aim of providing support for our students.

Each application will be evaluated independently and the grants will be issued during the admission process, with the candidates being notified personally by the Admissions Committee before formalizing enrolment.

Under no circumstances are grants issued that represent 100% of the total enrolment fees.

  • A deposit paid in advance to reserve a place.
  • The candidate’s profile meets the requirements for each program.
  • Former students of the School. In this case, a discount of 25% is applied to the enrolment fees
