Program Description

Master in International News Production

Higher School of Economics

New programme. First intake in 2019.

The current media environment is characterized by significant changes in news production, content distribution, and consumption. Information flow has become increasingly global. Moreover, mainstream media outlets are challenged by the great variety of alternative sources of information - both online and offline. And demand for such sources has been increasing rapidly.

The English-taught Master’s programme ‘International News Production’ provides future specialists with the basics of modern news production. It is also an opportunity to master the latest innovations in this industry, which allow students to work effectively at news outlets – both globally and locally. The programme also provides on-site training in the multimedia production of content in international newsrooms. In addition, lectures in contemporary media theory offer students a chance to accumulate knowledge about the world’s media systems and current economic trends. The course also helps to build skills in news analysis and agenda setting in a fast-moving media setting.

We are eager to welcome both employees of Russian and foreign media, as well as specialists in other spheres with fluent English.
