The Master’s programme in International Hospitality and Service Management enables students to prepare for a career in the hospitality industry. The course has been rated the best Master in Hospitality in The Netherlands according to 2016 Keuzegids information guide. The course also provides students with the option to gain practical work experience in Stenden’s own 4-star hotel.
NHL Stenden offers students the chance to complete a single or dual degree. Students who complete the single degree will get a Dutch Master of Arts (MA) whereas students who complete a dual degree will receive a Dutch Master of Arts (MA) as well as a British Master of Science (MSc). The British Master of Science is issued by NHL Stenden’s partner university, the University of Derby in the UK.
Students can choose to do the course full-time thus meaning they would graduate within 14 months or choose the part-time course allowing them to graduate within 2 years. During the first module, students will gain an understanding of the principles of hospitality and service management, students will also start finding a current management issue to research for their thesis. The second module will consist of finding ways to improve services within an organisation and also look at sustainability within the hospitality industry. For students who have chosen the Master of Science programme, this will start in this module. Module three will be based on personal development and the financial side of management positions. The Master of Science programme will finish during this module. The last module is dedicated to human resource management and allowing students to complete their final thesis.
Upon completion of the Master’s degree in International Hospitality and Service Management graduates have many career opportunities within the hospitality industry all over the world. English Language Requirements
All applicants for a Master programme at NHL Stenden are required to submit an English proficiency test with their application. Exceptions are made for students who have completed their Bachelor degree entirely in the English language at an accredited institution.
NHL Stenden accepts three kinds of official language tests: IELTS, TOEFL and the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
- Academic IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 for each skill).
- TOEFL 550 (paper based), 213 (computer-based) and 80 (internet based). Original test results must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to NHL Stenden. The TOEFL institution code for NHL Stenden is 9215.
- Cambridge ESOL score CAE-C.
