Prepare for the challenges of a globalised world
The Master's Degree Programme in International Business focuses on the identification and management of challenges arising from planning, controlling and coordinating business activities on an international scale. Based both on the required competence of international managers today as well as core areas of research within the University of Vaasa, the teaching on the programme centres around current theory and practice in three key aspects of the international business - international strategic management, international marketing management, and international human resource management.
Besides these three key areas, the MIB programme offers students a range of country-focused studies which prepare students to do business in key emerging markets. Teaching on the programme is supported by high-quality, and internationally recognized research groups that have been rewarded several times for their contributions to the international academic community.
The Master's Degree Programme in International Business is one of a very few in Finland and one among less than 100 programmes worldwide that has international EPAS accreditation. EPAS accreditation is a worldwide quality label for degree programmes in the field of business studies. In the EPAS accreditation process the quality of education, international aspects and corporate interaction are emphasized.
The University of Vaasa has close ties with the businesses of the region and we use actual case studies in our teaching combining theoretical knowledge with practical examples.Vaasa is the largest energy technology hub in the Nordic countries, with 140 companies and 11,000 employees in the energy industry. The programme is looking for students who have a good academic record from their previous studies in a relevant subject (business studies/economics), have a genuine interest in international aspects of business and management, have worked or intend to work in an international organisation, and who are committed to studying an intensive two-year programme which leads to a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration degree. The intake of the Master's Degree Programme in International Business is 35 students, and the application period is around December - January annually.
There are no entrance examinations for international Master's programmes at the University of Vaasa. Admission decisions are made on the basis of the required documents, evaluating each complete application individually and selecting those with the best qualifications. Tuition fee in the Master's Degree Programme in International Business is 12 000 euros annually. In addition to the tuition fee students are required to pay the Student Union membership fee of approximately 140 euro per academic year. The University of Vaasa has scholarships available for students who are required to pay tuition fees in the Master's Degree Programmes.
