The MSc in International Business provides you with the tools to master the challenges of management and strategy in global organizations. The program combines advanced analytical training with active learning in real projects together with SSE and CEMS corporate partners.

In the International Business program you work on an advanced level with topics focused on running and developing global organizations. The program use strategy and marketing tools to put the firm in context and explore how firms influence their competitive environments. The program also learn how to make firms grow and prosper from the inside, through innovations and management practices that build operational excellence. Leadership and teamwork in multi-cultural contexts is studied as well as practiced through live projects and group work, and reflected upon through interaction with executives. Ethics and CSR is integrated in several courses to mirror the integrated role it should have in everyday decision-making. Language and skills training provides the essential management communication tools needed for your future work.

In the program there are components of real, “live” projects together with corporate partners of SSE and of CEMS. Through the combination of topics covered in the program, you will acquire a deep and integrated understanding of how international firms and other organizations function, how to navigate them to achieve results, and, last but not least, how to improve them and the things they do.

The program is fully integrated into the CEMS Master in International Management. Upon fulfilling the graduation requirements of SSE and of CEMS, you will be awarded both a Master of Science degree from SSE and a Master degree from CEMS, the prestigious global alliance of management education.​

Specific program requirements:

​ 1) A Bachelor degree with at least 90 ECTS in Business Administration (including up to 30 ECTS in Economics)

2) GMAT or GRE test

  • GMAT score of 600 or more.
  • GRE score (Quantitative) of 155 or more.
  • For both formats the recommended score for
  • Analytical Writing part - in the range of 4.5-5.0 or higher.​

The GMAT code is MFV-98-44, GRE code is 6213

3) Proficiency in English

Proficiency in English is the only language requirement for admission, and it must be documented in one of the following ways:

  • IELTS score (Academic) of 7 or more
  • TOEFL total score of 100 or more (internet based)
  • CAE scoring in least B
  • CPE scoring at least B
  • BEC scoring in least B

TOEFL test scores must be sent directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS), to University Admissions in Sweden (institution code: SWEDEN 3477). IELTS/CAE/CPE/BEC scores should be reported by the test center to University Admissions in Sweden.

English language test exemptions (ONLY THESE CASES):

a) English as native language, or

b) a Bachelor’s degree from a program conducted completely in English in an English-speaking country or from either a CEMS member schools or an EQUIS/AACSB accredited school.

4) Proficiency in another CEMS language

Applicants should document the full range of languages they command, including their mother tongue. This should be included in the CV and may be included in the letter of motivation. Relevant proof of language proficiency should also be included as part of the application.

Beyond this, the SSE program in International Business requires a degree of proficiency in two additional languages as graduation requirements.

5) CV, a letter of motivation and your choice of schools.

In reviewing applications, assessors take into account all international and transcultural experience including knowledge of languages, work or studies abroad, international or multilingual family experience and relevant extracurricular activities. You need to submit:

  • CV
  • ​Letter of motivation is for both MBM/International Business and for the CEMS MIM program (one page, A4 or US letter format).
  • A brief text that ranks the eight CEMS schools you prefer for your semester abroad and that explains your choices for the top three. Keep this text to one page (A4 or US letter format).​
  • A passport size photo
