Master's Programme in close cooperation with companies
The ASIIN accredited Master's Programme in Industrial Management provides students with skills to work in tasks that require high level business and technology knowledge. It prepares you to work in high-tech companies and businesses with rapidly changing core technologies, in research centres and universities.
The ASIIN quality seal provides assurance that subject specific quality standards of the academic discipline and of the profession for which that programme prepares are met at high level. It confirms that a suitable framework for good teaching and successful learning is provided. The award of the seal complies with the European Qualifications Framework and the European Standards and Guidelines.
Vaasa being the centre of growing renewable energy business in the Nordic Countries creates great opportunities for close cooperation with energy companies for the programme. Vaasa is the largest energy technology hub in the Nordic countries with 140 companies and 11,000 employees in the energy industry. The employment rate in Vaasa is the best in Finland.Both local business network and international connections are utilized in teaching: students plan and conduct small research projects combining both theoretical framework and empirical study in companies.
Outcome of the programme
Students can choose to concentrate either in the area of technology management and product development or in the area of production management and logistics. The outcome of the programme is a skill set that allows a student to solve problems concerning product development, service development, production, energy production and environmental issues in a networked industry setting.
Applicants' previous studies may vary from business studies to technology, covering areas relevant to the programme. Students in this programme will understand and master the basics of technology management. They will learn how to analyse the future of technology, policy and market; and establish as well as manage research and development projects.
The programme leads to a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration degree and it can be completed in two years. Annually, 30 students with the best credentials are admitted to the Master's Programme in Industrial Management. The application period is around December - January annually.
There are no entrance examinations for the international Master's programme. Admission decisions are made on the basis of the required documents, evaluating each complete application individually and selecting those with the best qualifications. The tuition fee for the Master's Programme in Industrial Management is 10 000 euros. In addition to the tuition fee students are required to pay the Student Union membership fee of approximately 140 euro per academic year. The University of Vaasa has scholarships available for students who are required to pay tuition fees in the Master's Degree Programmes.
