The English-taught master course of studies Hospitality management & Leadership at the SRH university campus Dresden addresses itself in its conception to ambitious personalities, who want to secure themselves - based on a profound economical knowledge - a top position in the Hospitality industry.
The Master's programme is designed in such a way that the essential leadership skills are developed and the graduates are prepared for future challenges in the industry.
Each semester covers the following topics:
Leadership Skills (1st semester)
The first semester serves to prepare graduates of bachelor's degree programmes in Hospitality Management or with economic content and experience or affinity for the hotel industry for their future tasks as internationally deployable managers. For this reason, the focus of the first semester is on evaluating the economic challenges of the industry in the context of global trends and challenges, e.g. technological, digital or intercultural. Future markets and their opportunities should be recognized by the students in order to develop business models including the necessary financing. In addition, it is important to understand the importance of leadership in harmony with the corporate culture and to develop and apply the relevant competencies.
Application of Leadership Tasks (2nd Semester)
In the second semester, these leadership competencies are applied in the specific leadership tasks of the industry, in particular, the cooperation with owners, financiers or real estate management companies. In addition, different operator concepts, global distribution strategies and the development of concepts both in culinary and hospitality are analysed and sustainably designed against the background of market developments. The development of personal and social action competences is particularly promoted in the "Contracting & Negotiation" module, which is particularly reflected in the intercultural context. Academic Paper Design & Writing develops both creative skills and competencies in scientific methods and thus academic thinking.
Going International (3rd semester)
In the third semester, the focus is on internationality. Depending on the prerequisites and objectives of the student, the competencies developed so far are either further developed in a practical phase (6 months) that meets the requirements and is reflected upon with the support of the supervisors or deepened during one semester at one of the partner universities with an industry-specific curriculum.
In-Depth-Experience (4th semester)
The last semester begins with an online research module ("Analysing International Business"), followed by the master's thesis, ideally combined with a question from hotel practice.

What you need to bring - Admission requirements for the 1.5-year Master's programme

- 3-year bachelor's degree from a recognised university
- Basic understanding of economics proven by modules in previous studies
- Language requirements for the English-based programme are TOEFL (84 ibt) or comparable certificates (e.g. IELTS Academic: at least 6.0; TOEIC: at least 785 or a school leaving certificate). A university degree completed in English will suffice as proof of language proficiency.
