Credits: 60 credits ECTS. Final Master's Project (Business Plan): 15 ECTS

Duration: 1 academic year

Language: English

Practical work: development of consulting projects at Spanish companies that operate in global markets: 3 ECTS

Academic calendar: from September to August

  • From September to December at IQS (Barcelona, Spain)
  • From January to April at Fu Jen Catholic University (Taipei, Taiwan)
  • From May to August at the University of San Francisco (USA)

Timetable: Monday to Friday (intensive program – full-time)


Objectives of the degree

In today's world, businesses are not defined as local, but rather as global; this new environment requires professionals with a background and practical experience in this new modern framework.

The objective of the Master's Degree in Global Entrepreneurial Management (MGEM) is to expand on the executive level management capabilities for businesses and organizations in global markets, with a notable preference for innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit. The program ensures the development of one's talents in multicultural teamwork settings as well as your abilities to negotiate and communicate in global contexts.

Upon completing the program, you will be ready to take on management level positions in business and organizations involved in international markets.

The program is developed jointly through the three participating Universities: IQS School of Management, Universitat Ramon Llull (Barcelona, Spain); the University of San Francisco (San Francisco, USA); and Fu Jen Catholic University (Taipei, Taiwan). All three institutions fall within approximately 12% of top business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (www.aacsb.edu).

The Master's in Global Entrepreneurial Management (MGEM) is a highly innovative program stemming from the fact that it recruits students from a wide range of countries. In the four editions, the program has had students from Spain, Italy, Ireland, Germany, France, Russia, USA, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Kuwait, Iran, Lebanon, Venezuela, Argentina, and Mexico. The diversity acquired through the program's placement in three unique and international cities (Barcelona, Taipei and San Francisco) allows students to experience a practical style of learning both inside and outside the classroom.

The methodology is based on the development of numerous cases and projects that the students ought to carry out in mixed teams. Further, throughout the program, the students manage consulting projects in conjunction with businesses that operate in global markets.

Upon completing the program, graduates obtain the official degree of Master from all three institutions.


Skills to be acquired

The Master's Degree in Global Entrepreneurial Management will allow you to acquire the following skills:

  • Understand the new environment in regards to politics, economics, culture, and society; all key aspects in business management.
  • Identify, analyze and develop new innovative ideas and opportunities in business applied to global markets.
  • Develop entrepreneurial capabilities by way of practical experience.
  • Develop instruments and capabilities associated with the development of real consulting projects actually being carried out by businesses in our area, with a presence in global markets.
  • Acquire capabilities to develop new innovative ideas that translate into the implementation of an international business plan.
  • Design business strategies in the development of international businesses.
  • Develop and implement new formulas in commerce, finance, and operations, applied to the globalization of companies.
  • Promote communication and negotiation skills in a multicultural and global environment.
  • Obtain practical experience by way of internships in global businesses.

Acceptance to Master's degree programs

Applicant Profile

The MGEM program is designed for graduates coming from various academic backgrounds, specifically: economics, business administration, engineers as well as other fields that the admissions committee from the three Universities evaluates favorably. In certain cases, students are accepted on the condition that they take some courses before being officially admitted to the program.

The admitted candidates to the MGEM program are officially enrolled in the three Universities. At the end of the program, the students obtain diplomas and the title of Master from each University.


Admission

To apply to the MGEM program you should be in the possession of a University degree granted by a Spanish University or from an institution of higher education from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

Also, graduates from education systems outside of the EHEA have access without the need for official recognition of their undergraduate degree. The admissions committee of the three Universities will evaluate the candidate's studies to be certain that the rigor is equivalent to the corresponding degrees given by official Spanish Universities and that the foreign degree gives the student access to post-graduate programs. Access to the program through this channel shall not imply the official recognizing process of the undergraduate degree, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of confirming qualification for entry into Master's programs.

In order to enroll in this Master's, you should apply for admission to the advisory committee of the program by submitting: undergraduate degree, professional resume, TOEFL results (or equivalent) and other documents to be detailed below.


Transfer requirements

The Permanent Committee of the Academic Board, which examines each applicant and establishes the recognition of credits, will handle the admission of students from any national or foreign University system, that have studied at the undergraduate level within the EHEA framework.

In the case of students from EU member states, or from countries with which Spain has established international agreements, students are required to have a qualification enabling them to undertake graduate level University studies in their home country. Students from outside of the EU, or from countries that do not have an established agreement with Spain, must have passed the corresponding University entrance exam.


Completion requirements

In order to obtain the degree of Master, the student should obtain a passing grade from all of the credits taken in each of the three host Universities.

If the student does not obtain a passing grade for a specific course, he or she is eligible to re-take the course in the following year's edition of the program. In the event that the student does not pass the course in the following year, the student will not be eligible to receive the degree.

With a clear orientation towards professional careers, the organization of the curriculum is explicitly designed to increase the skills of the graduates in order to be able to develop management capabilities. The program helps to develop students' abilities to develop innovative business projects with an international vocation or to take on positions of management in companies or organizations involved in global markets.
