Master in Financial Engineering
The MIMA Master's program in Financial Engineering prepares you for a challenging and successful career in the international world of finance. You will learn to see finance from advanced quantitative perspectives, including the management of financial portfolios and risk analysis in financial markets.

Focusing on quantitative computer-based methods of financial analysis, the program provides an advanced basis in Mathematics and Economics.
The program is oriented towards financial real-life problems, and the textbooks have been chosen to support this approach. The advanced financial software is systematically used in the teaching. The best students are also involved in research activities and the development of experimental financial software. The program is a natural continuation of the Bachelor’s program Analytical Finance.
Research studies are carried out in Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Financial and Risk Management Software as well as in some related research areas such as Actuarial Mathematics, Applied Statistics and Stochastic Processes, and Simulation. The best students are involved in research activities and the development of experimental financial software.
Employment and Future Prospects
As a graduate of the Financial Engineering program, you will have very competitive advanced qualifications for obtaining a senior position in a bank, stock exchange, investment company, insurance or financial software company, government or financial institution or software company. The best students have the possibility to continue their education at the Ph.D. level at Mälardalen University or at another high-quality educational institution or university anywhere in the world.

A completed Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education of three years or more, equivalent to 180 credits, of which at least 60 credits in Mathematics including probability theory and statistics.
A TOEFL test result, with a minimum score of 575 with a TWE score of at least 4.5 (PBT) or 90 with a TWE score of at least 20 (iBT) or an IELTS test result with an overall band score of at least 6.5 and no band score below 5.5 or equivalent is required.
