Master in Electrical Engineering - Advanced Power Systems, 2nd Cycle

General

Program Description

Advanced Power Systems

An equilibrium between conventional power systems and green energy.

132286_wind.png

Even today, as renewable sources are extensively present, most of the electrical energy is still being produced by conventional sources. That’s why the balance of the electrical power system is no longer only the balance between production and consumption. Today we are looking for a balance between conventional and renewable sources of electrical energy, and thus between its price and environmental impacts. In Advanced Power Systems Master degree program you will learn how to utilize modern and future ICT technologies to achieve an equilibrium between conventional and renewable power sources.

As a Master of Electrical Engineering with unique set of skills from this program, you will not only understand the systems behind complex power systems, but also be able to develop and implement improvements on existing supply structure - from environmental politics and power production, to power transmission along with end user consumption.

Location

132289_city.png

Study is held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The country is hidden between the mighty Alps and the calm Adriatic sea. Sure it may not be easy to find it on a map, but you will have a hard time finding a place so small offering so much. The programme Advanced Power Systems takes place at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Tržaška cesta 25, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Understand and use advanced concepts of power system monitoring, operation, control, and protection. Master how to evaluate and solve complex technical problems related to power engineering technology by applying mathematical and scientific principles.

Advanced power systems extend beyond information technologies and electronics. They will be and already are a large part of energy systems. You will learn how to efficiently take advantage of information and communication technologies and electronics in the field of electrical power engineering.

Understand the business and regulatory landscape that national and multinational power and utility companies must work within. Apply problem-solving techniques to work challenges and make decisions using established engineering principles, methodologies, and tools.

Achieve desired results whilst being mindful of their wider impact. As engineers, you will bear a high level of responsibility. Balance professional, social and environmental responsibility, client demands and their social and environmental consequences.

An electrical power system is a sum of different parts and processes. It takes a group of skilled individuals for it to perform at the highest level. By connecting with experts from various fields you will develop your skills of working in a team.

Attain active written and oral communication both at a high professional level as well as at a non-technical level, depending on the target audience.
