objectiveAstrophysics is currently experiencing an authentic revolution in its different theoretical, experimental, methodological aspects, etc. The University Master will address the following topics of great impact in the branch of Astrophysics: solar system, extrasolar planets, stellar activity, stellar populations in galaxies, astroparticles, large-scale structure, training researchers with great potential in all topics of maximum scientific news. The main objective is to provide updated training in the different areas of Astrophysics and related disciplines, so that the student acquires knowledge and skills that enable him to develop a wide range of professional and research activities in the area of Astronomy and Astrophysics and other related sciences.RecipientsThe recommended entry profile would be a graduate or a graduate in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering degrees. Apart from these preferred degrees, the possibility of accessing from other scientific degrees is also considered, provided that the student has an adequate physical-mathematical basis. In this case, it will be the Coordinating Commission of the Master's Degree that assesses whether said degree is adequate for the completion of the University Master's Degree in Astrophysics, depending on the student's academic profile.
Qualification requirements or equivalent qualifications: Degree in Physics or related area. Why study this master? One of the natural options for graduates of the Master's Degree in Astrophysics is to continue in the research career by carrying out a doctoral thesis. The Master also trains to practice teaching or different activities in companies in the aerospace sector.
A series of specific reasons are listed below:For the research experience of the professors in charge of assuming the teachings of the University Master, since all of them are part of relevant research groups and projects, at national and international level.
For the wide and qualified teaching experience of the teaching staff of the departments involved that assume the teaching of the Master.
For the conception of the contents of the subjects taught and the way of transmitting them, with a methodology that combines the theoretical classes with the practical works.
For having UCM's own teaching resources and equipment, such as those provided by the different centers that make up the CAI (Research Support Center), through which support for astronomical research is guaranteed. The CAI of Physical Techniques has work areas such as Solid State Physics and Materials, Metallurgy, Micro and Nanoelectronics, Nanostructures, Optics, Optoelectronics, Paleomagnetism, Solid State Chemistry and, finally, Advanced Instrumentation for Large Telescopes.
For having the possibility of carrying out astronomical practices in scientific institutions of international rank.Admission requirements for mastersNon-enabling university mastersBe in possession of any of the following titles:Spanish official university degree .
Title issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and empowering in the country of issue for access to Master's education.
Title of educational systems outside the EHEA that empowers in the country of issuance for access to Master's education, homologated or declared equivalent to the degree and academic level of Degree or Degree by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training . In case of lacking the mentioned homologation or equivalency, it will be necessary to have authorization or access permission granted by this University.
Or be carrying out studies leading to the obtaining of any of the previous degrees during the course in which the pre-registration is carried out and be in a position to prove the obtaining of the same before the date established in the corresponding call (see href = "https: //www.ucm.es/requisitos-de-admision-a-masteres ).
In addition, students from foreign educational systems, whose mother tongue is different from Spanish, must prove level B2 of the Spanish language (or higher) .
Specific requirements that any of the requested masters may have. You can consult it by accessing the website of the Master itself.
