Program Description

The Master Program in Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science (Global ATGS) is a cross-disciplinary program supported by the College of Bioresources and Agriculture and College of Life Science. The goal of Global ATGS is to train international academic and industrial leaders in advanced agriculture. The main fields of this program are digital agriculture, genomics and modern breeding science. Global ATGS is an English-instructed master’s degree program.

NTU has tight cooperation with many international research organizations such as International Rice Research Institute, World Vegetable Center, etc. Students will have internship opportunities at international research center or company, which will be helpful to plan careers in the future.

Program Features

International connections:

NTU has been collaborating with international research organizations such as Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture, International Rice Research Institute and World Vegetable Center. Students have opportunities to involve in the research projects on an international scale and accumulate fieldwork experiences.

Hands-on training:

Students not only gain advanced knowledge in contemporary agriculture but also acquire plenty of hands-on training and internship to be ready for career development.

Field visits:

Field visits are arranged to help students to understand the practical applications and strengthen the connections with the industry.

Curriculum

The Master Program in Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science is cross-disciplinary and is supported by the College of Bio-resources and Agriculture and College of Life Science.

The objective of this program is that students possess advanced knowledge and demonstrate practical skills in contemporary agriculture.

There are two main focuses of this program.

  • Digital Agriculture Science and Technology
  • Genomic Science and Breeding Technology

The graduates are expected to achieve the core competencies, including smart farming technology, genome science research, breeding science and technology.

 

What You’ll Study

To earn your Master of Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science you must successfully complete our 24 credit-program which includes 12 credits in core courses, 12 credits in elective courses.

Internship Opportunities

We provide solid hands-on training and internship programs, which ensure you to be ready for your career development. Also, we arrange field visits to help you to understand the practical applications, strengthen your connections with the industry.

Prerequisites

International Students (non-Republic of China citizens only)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Proof of English language proficiency in the form of one of the following:
    • Previous degree from an English-speaking country or taught entirely in English
    • IELTS score of 5.5 or above
    • TOEIC score of 750 or above
    • TOEFL (iBT) score of 71 or above

How to Apply

International Students (non-Republic of China citizens only)

1. Fill out the online application form (personal information, language proficiency,  applying departments etc.)
2. Download the Declaration and Authorization Form and the Payment Form
3. Upload all the required documents
   ·Language proficiency certificate
   ·Letter of recommendation x 2
   ·Autobiography or CV
   ·Study plan / Statement of purpose / Research plan
   ·Academic Honors and Activities (if applicable)
   ·Working Experience (if applicable)
4. Confirm and submit the application.

Overseas Chinese / H.K. / Macau Students

Study Type

The Program is offered on campus, and the online courses are for those who are not able to enter Taiwan due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Tuition Fee

  • Tuition fee: USD 5,000 per semester
  • Housing fee (estimated): USD 390-1040 per semester (please refer to the faculty website)
  • Insurance fee: USD 150 per semester
  • Living expenses (estimated): USD 512-682 per semester

Scholarship Opportunities

NTU Scholarship (For Global ATGS students only)

We provide merit-based scholarships for our students. The amount awarded will receive after enrollment will be 5,000 USD or 10,000 USD per academic year (the amount awarded will be equivalent to approximately 50% to 100% of the recipient’s tuition and fees). Candidates with an outstanding academic record are eligible and encouraged to apply. The Master Program in Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science reserves the right to change these terms, conditions, and the actual total amount of scholarship at any time without prior notice.

NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship Program for Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science

  • Coverage Entitlements:
  1. Tuition and other school fees
  2. Travel allowance to cover international airfare
  3. Book and supplies allowance
  4. Health insurance
  5. Living allowance for food, lodging and incidental expense
  • Eligibility Criteria:
  1. Must be nationals of SEAMEO member countries
  2. Must not be more than 35 years of age at the time of application
  3. Planned research must be aligned with SEARCA’s overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN). Moreover, priority research topics must fall within the ATTAIN priority areas:
