The overall objective of the program is the development of scientific knowledge in the theory and application of psychological and social processes governing the teaching and learning.
Students will have the opportunity to choose between two specializations: a) Educational Psychology or b) School Psychology.
The Educational Psychology specialization particularly aimed at people working or interested in pursuing careers as teachers. The field of Educational Psychology is defined broadly as the study of students, learning and teaching. Studies in this field can enrich the work of those who work or wish to work as teachers in primary, secondary or higher education providing the basic theoretical background that will guide their teaching in order to improve the learning outcomes of students and be able to help their students to progress academically and personally. A successful teacher is able to motivate students to successfully manage the class to assess students 'prior knowledge, to transmit successfully ideas to serve the students' particular needs, to develop appropriate teaching methods and use appropriate assessment methods. Teachers can develop these skills by understanding and applying relevant psychological theories and learning theories. The Educational Psychology specialization aims to encourage teachers to see themselves as practitioners students (engaged learners) who are constantly looking to find and examine how best to help their students achieve their goals. The central objective of this specialization is to enrich the knowledge of students on the ways the development of the individual and individual differences influence learning and the consequences that may have these parameters in teaching. Another partial goal is to develop critical thinking in evaluating various teaching methods and assessment of learning. Finally, the program aims to educate students to use methodological and statistical tools to investigate modern educational psychology issues.
The School Psychology specialization is aimed at holders of a degree in Psychology interested in working in the applied branch of educational psychology, known as school psychology. This branch deals with identifying barriers to learning (eg learning difficulties, socio-emotional problems or behavioral problems of students) and implementing interventions to resolve them. A key role of school psychologists as professionals is to provide services to children, youth and families within the school environment in order to create a safe, healthy and supportive learning environment. The school psychologists receive training in the use and evaluation of diagnostic tests (eg IQ tests and school performance test), contract psychoekpaideftikon evaluation reports (psychoeducational evaluation reports), design and implementation of preventive and interventional programs (prevention and intervention programmes), and in counseling students. On this basis, the central aim of this direction is to train students in applying clinical principles and the use of special tools for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of behavioral problems, emotional problems and / or learning difficulties in school.
Graduates of the program have a variety of choices about employment prospects.
Graduates of Educational Psychology specialization will gain knowledge that will improve their teaching practice. Additionally, the acquisition of this Master's degree will be useful for purposes of promotion and professional development in education.
Graduates of the School Psychology specialization will gain knowledge and practical skills in the use and evaluation of diagnostic tests (eg IQ tests and school performance test), contract psychoekpaideftikon evaluation reports (psychoeducational evaluation reports), design and implementation of preventive and interventional programs (prevention and intervention programmes), and in counseling students. After completing the program, which includes 1020 hours of supervised internship in schools, graduates will be able to register as professional psychologists in the Register and psychologists to work in schools or private office.
Access to Further Studies
Graduates of the program will also be able to pursue doctoral studies in Educational Psychology, Education or other similar industry if they wish. The design of the program provides for these students through the Graduate Labour elaboration choice. Choosing the preparation Master Thesis, students will have the opportunity to work on a substantial research project and thus be in a better position to be admitted to doctoral programs than graduates with no experience in writing Master Thesis.

- Develop skills in using methods and principles of Counseling Psychology to address a variety of issues that may be of interest to the student, such as family problems, learning problems, interpersonal relationships, career guidance, and so on.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the design and use of preventive and interventional methods aimed at promoting the academic and emotional development and well-being of children within the school, in partnership with school bodies and the family.
