Have you received a BA in cinema? or a BA in another field and you are able to prove your filmmaking talents are on a par with a BA cinema level? Here you are – a 3-year master’s degree program. This natural evolution of FAMU International gained specific contours in the fall of 2008 when the first, carefully selected students enrolled for their three-year course.
The three-year follow-up Master's degree program is an intensive hands-on and theoretical preparation from the very beginning. Students work with an HDV, HDSLR and other digital formats while adopting a professional approach to the 16mm and 35mm film formats both on location and in the studio. At the same time, students take a number of compulsory courses based on their specialization, complemented with suitable elective courses, workshops, and a number of modules – short intensive courses taught by guest professional artists, theorists, and visiting professors, mostly on Fridays or weekends.
The program is divided into two specializations: screenwriting and directing. Each discipline follows a specific curriculum.
During the admission procedure, we closely evaluate the applicant’s talents and abilities for the chosen specialization. Please pay careful attention to the requirements for the procedure, which are mandatory for all applicants and can be obtained here.
The intentionally low number of CDM students and the profile of the offered specialization subjects guarantee a personalized approach to every single student. At the beginning, every student is assigned a mentor to help them with their studies and with the creation of their theoretical and practical work.
How to apply?
Cinema and Digital Media is a three-year Master’s follow-up program focusing on Screenwriting and Directing open to anyone who has completed a Bachelor’s degree. The instruction is in English and the applicants must demonstrate their knowledge of English at the B2 level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) during the admission procedure. The application includes The Europass Language Passport, which can be completed here.
Applications should be submitted before or on application deadline March 31, 2017. The admission committee selects the applicants to be invited for the second round of the admission procedure, which will be held via Skype.
Skype admission interviews will take place approximately in the middle of April. The applicants who are selected for the second round will be informed about the technical details of the connection in a timely manner. However, it is certain at this point that an Internet connection with a minimum transmission rate of 8 MBPS will be necessary for successful data transmissions.
