Visual merchandising is an indispensable part of any retail strategy. Over the last several years, the field has moved from the basement studio to the executive boardroom - where creative sensibilities must be linked to strong leadership and management skills.

The first of its kind in the United States, the Master of Professional Studies in Visual Merchandising program (MPS VM) at LIM College offers advanced, specialized education geared towards eventually obtaining upper-management and executive-level positions. 

The MPS VM will give you a leg up as you pursue a career in this evolving field. You will learn the principles, philosophies, and technologies of visual merchandising through exploration of the marketplace, hands-on classroom learning, and field experimentation, with an emphasis on the principles and practices of sustainable design. You will also develop leadership and managerial abilities, including human resource and project management skills.

And you will do all this in the retail mecca that is New York City. Your education includes visits to some of the world’s most successful retailers to analyze displays and store environments and explore cutting-edge design and merchandising practices.

Curriculum

The MPS VM is a 30-credit master's degree program which can be completed over the course of three semesters in one calendar year. Your first 24 credits are core courses representing the most important, and industry-relevant facets of visual merchandising. The last six credits of the program allow you to synthesize your exploration of visual techniques with a three-credit capstone project. Additionally, you will be able to gain hands-on experience with a three-credit internship.
