Education in Macau
Students living in the area have the option of a subsidized school or a private school. Very few government schools are in place any longer. Most students enroll in school for about 15 years, which is compulsory and provided through the government without cost. Most schools here, though, are grammar schools, teaching just the basics of education to students. There are a few vocational schools, especially those focusing on technology, construction, and electronics.
Students attend primary and secondary education as long as they meet standard requirements. Students may not enter secondary school but may choose a vocational school instead. Then, some students move on to higher education.
