The master's degree Neerlandistiek / Dutch Studies welcomes students from home and abroad, and is practiced in Leiden in the full multidisciplinary range, from the Middle Ages to the present. The subject covers all areas in the world where Dutch language and culture play a role or play and is placed in an international and interdisciplinary context. You can do research to your favorite author or to translate literature, study changes in Dutch, engage in the argumentative and rhetorical aspects of language, or learn more about the history and art history of the Low Countries. Within your specialization, you will deepen in topics that are in line with current research themes.
Upon completion of the master's degree, you are likely to find work at a company or institution as an editor, language advisor or communications specialist. Depending on your pre-primary education and the choices you make, there is also the first-level teacher education at your fingertips.
