MSc/PgDip/PgCert in Supply Chain and Logistics Management

Supply chain management is widely accepted as a critical business competency. Supply chain management includes:

  • initial design
  • procurement of materials and services
  • processing and distribution to the customer either directly or through a network of distributors

In many companies, 80% or more of their turnover is spent outside of the organisation.

This course helps you become effective in managing this. It’s designed for those who work or are planning to work within supply chain management. It’s also suitable for those with a background in support functions such as:

  • sales
  • maintenance
  • finance
  • marketing

You’ll gain an understanding of the issues, concepts, models, tools and techniques associated with supply chain management.

What you’ll study

You'll gain an in-depth understanding of strategic, tactical and operational issues relating to the management of supply chains.

You'll be equipped with state-of-the-art concepts, methods, techniques and tools to contribute towards the competitiveness of industrial and commercial organisations worldwide.

The course comprises compulsory modules and specialist modules as well as a masters dissertation. The specialisation allows you to choose an area of interest, Operations Management, Logistics Management or Procurement Management. You will choose this at registration.

Major projects

You'll undertake a research dissertation related to supply chain management. This is an opportunity to showcase the skills acquired in classes during the year and to apply research practice. Supervised by a member of academic staff, you'll conduct a literature review and carry out an appropiate study.

Learning & teaching

This course is delivered through a balanced mix of lectures, tutorials and project works. Industrial contacts are regularly invited to present based on their experience.


Assessment is by assignments, individual and group projects, presentations and examinations.

For the Master project, you'll have the opportunity to select a thesis topic.

Entry requirements

MSc - First or second-class Honours degree, or equivalent, in engineering, technology or business-related discipline.

PgDip - Degree, or good HND plus relevant industrial experience, may be considered for entry to the Postgraduate Diploma. Depending on satisfactory progress, you may transfer from the Diploma to the Master’s course.

To qualify for the professional qualification of Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) you must gain the MSc degree and should have a minimum of three years’ relevant experience either prior to joining the course or after completing the course.

English Language Requirement
