As a student in Purchasing and Supply Management, you directly benefit from our leading position in research. You will not only get into contact with latest trends in practice but will also be confronted with inspiring research. Studying at the University of Twente enables you to make a difference in firms. What is Purchasing & Supply Management?

A typical industrial firm in Europe spends about 60% of its turnover on supplies. This figure indicates that Purchasing is important and, to stay competitive, firms need to manage their supply effectively. Effective management of a firm’s supplies is the responsibility of Purchasing and Supply managers: they search, select, contract and eventually manage suppliers to ensure the supply of materials and services that a firm needs.... Overview

Landscape Architecture is sometimes described as ‘drawing in the topography’, but the profession encompasses much more. During the Master’s programme at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, you will acquire the knowledge, insight, and skills that make it possible to solve spatial problems through design and to shed light on new topographical situations. This will take place at different scale levels, from a garden to the region.

You will not only learn to reconcile new elements such as water, infrastructure, buildings or greenery with the existing qualities and possibilities of the natural and historical environment, but also how to set a process in motion which an increasing amount of parties will latch on to. Research is an important part of the work, as genuine understanding and innovation can arise from this. That also means gaining an understanding of other factors than the spatial one: the users, the creators and the managers. Above all, the landscape architect is explicitly aware of the influence that the time factor has on the quality of the environment, and can let this do its work. By introducing the right basic conditions, a high-quality outdoor environment is created.... [-]

The Challenge

With a growing world population and increasing global welfare, the demand for most metals and minerals is increasing. At the same time, metal and material markets are not always predictable and ore grades are decreasing over time, making the challenge to identify and extract resources within economies of scale even more complex. Adding to this complexity, awareness of environmental issues is also growing and the world expects resources to be extracted in a responsible manner. It will be up to the mining engineer of the future to operate successfully in this challenging environment.

Due to the rapid evolution of the raw materials sector, mining engineers will be expected to have a command of vital innovation and entrepreneurial competencies and skills with a deep understanding of sustainability to address these challenges. The exposure to internationally-and culturally-diverse environments has also become an appealing and desired quality, as globalization is increasingly relevant in all industries, including the mining sector and its extensive supply chains.... Ever wondered where plastics will come from after oil runs out? Is it possible to produce functional materials and plastics from biological resources? Can novel sustainable materials be produced based on the molecular structures available in nature?

In the master biobased materials, we will provide you with the knowledge and competencies to deal with these challenges.

Biobased: sustainable materials with possibly completely new properties

Planet Earth is running out of fossil fuels. Alternative resources for materials and plastics need to be found and developed. A new generation of scientists is required to discover novel materials and sustainable production methods making use of biological resources. This provides an opportunity for the development of novel materials with completely new material properties. This program prepares you for a career in research, development, production, and application of bio-based materials to aid in the transition towards a more sustainable and biobased economy.... [-]
