Texas Tech University's online Master of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education is made possible through a consortium of universities called the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GPIDEA). Several universities have come together to offer online post-baccalaureate programs to students whose families or careers have prevented them from completing a degree on campus. The consortium agreement allows students to take courses offered by multiple institutions for a standard tuition in order to complete a program.
38 - 41 credit hours over a three-year period
Although students can take courses from multiple institutions, the degree-granting institution is responsible for placing students for practicum and internship credits.
Coursework is completed online.
Prerequisite: bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences content specialization or a related area
The program meets the requirements for those students seeking initial teacher certification/licensure in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
