The offshore industry is a relatively recent Industry that has rapidly expanded during the last 60 years. Challenges in the industry arise such as has never been encountered before, particularly in offshore engineering. These challenges can only be synthesized and solved by upgrading and enhancing the knowledge related to offshore engineering.
The oil and gas industry plays a significant role in Malaysia’s economy. The nation largely derives these resources from offshore reserves. It is predicted that there will be a shortage of talent in Malaysia in the oil and gas industry. This complexity is due to the large segments of workforce approaching retirement and the lack of skilled graduates from Malaysian universities. Malaysian universities have limited exposure in offshore engineering, as the focus is on general engineering in major disciplines (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering). Exposure is only gained through on the job training, requiring companies to invest a significant amount of time and money. In order to fill in the skill gap and lack of talent, it is necessary to develop graduates who are trained and versed in various offshore engineering areas.... [-]

This programme is for graduate engineers in naval architecture, offshore engineering, mechanical engineering and other related disciplines who wish to pursue a career in offshore engineering.
It provides you with practical knowledge of offshore floating systems. You’ll look at their conceptions, design and installation. You’ll also gain a sound basis of mathematical and engineering fundamentals.
With the world-wide search for offshore oil and gas moving into increasingly hostile areas of ocean and deep and ultra-deepwater, floating systems are becoming more widely used. Floating systems must be designed and built to withstand harsh environments with innovative methods and techniques being adopted to develop robust as well as economically efficient and safe structures. In meeting these challenges, concern for the environment is of increasing importance.... [-]

Having access to clean water is the cornerstone for improving healthcare, increasing food supply, reducing child mortality rates, and enhancing people’s overall quality of life. It has become crucial to develop technologies that can tackle water security challenges and meet the increasing demand. By applying integrated water resources management, surface water and groundwater can be used to cover this demand in a sustainable and eco-friendly way. These are the issues we explore with our students, as well as many other challenges such as wastewater treatment, stormwater management, coastal hydraulics, and modelling of hydrological processes. The programme is broad and covers the most important aspects of water resources engineering.... [-]

Offshore engineering is a rapidly developing discipline. In addition to its traditional relevance to the oil & gas industry, it is expanding to embrace the novel engineering challenges presented by the offshore renewable energy industry. This expansion in scope has been answered at Cranfield University by developing a new state-of-the-art, up-to-date MSc in Offshore Engineering, exploiting Cranfield University’s strong track record in offshore renewable energy projects and giving our graduates the competitive edge in their career.
Course structureThe taught programme for the Offshore Engineering masters is generally delivered from October to February and is comprised of eight modules. Students on the part-time programme will complete all of the modules based on a flexible schedule that will be agreed with the Course Director... [-]

Oceans cover more than 70% of the earth’s surface. However, those are still much unexplored. About 97% of the earth’s water is contained in oceans and seas all connected forming an enormous mass of water. Complex marine engineering becomes crucial when obtaining and discovering all the resources that the oceans can bring as for solving the different issues that can occur during this process.
This Master of Science Program in Marine and Offshore Technology is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the marine and offshore industry.
This MSc program has a strong international profile with students from all over the world.
Marine and Offshore Technology graduates will be equipped with the best theoretical and practical tools since we have some of the strongest academic staff in the world within this field.... [-]
