10 MSc Programs in International Security in Europe for 2024

This dual degree programme combines the faculties of two renowned educational institutions: George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, the oldest and largest programme of graduate conflict studies in the United States, and the University of Malta’s Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, which has been offering advanced degrees in diplomacy and building bridges between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East for the past twenty years. The MSc in International Relations, Strategy, and Security aims at providing students with a broad assessment of contemporary international relations, with emphasis on strategy and security issues. It combines in-depth academic training in key concepts, theories, and case studies, alongside a structured process of engagement with contemporary debates and experience. It integrates theoretical approaches with the study of many cases and issues.

In recent years, issues of terrorism and organised crime have gained an unprecedented profile, provoked significant social concern, and dominated both law-and-order and many wider social policy agendas. We draw on state-of-the-art research to address key critical issues surrounding organised criminality and terrorism in contemporary society.

Our postgraduate course in Diplomacy and Security Studies is designed to equip students with an industry-specific toolkit of international relations and foreign policy, as applicable to security and counter-terrorism. This unique course allows you to apply diplomatic theory to current issues in global crime and gives you a practical toolkit to approach real-world scenarios. Students use an online classroom to learn alongside a global community, giving you first-hand experiences from other countries and organisations.
