An MSc, or Master of Science, is an academic distinction bestowed upon those who effectively complete a predetermined set of coursework in what is often a science-based discipline. The MSc often enhances career opportunities as well as earning potential.

Insurance programs are often pursued by students who wish to enter or advance a career in a related profession. Some specializations within the industry include actuaries, who assess risks and use complex mathematics to determine premiums, and claims adjusters, who perform research to determine liability.

Education in the United Kingdom is a devolved matter with each of the countries of the United Kingdom having separate systems under different governments: the UK Government is responsible for England, and the Scottish Government, the Welsh Government and the Northern Ireland Executive are responsible for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, respectively.

The MSc in Actuarial Science provides a strong grounding in the mathematics of actuarial science and addresses both the current and future needs of the industry. The programme incorporates all mathematical techniques, in particular from the fields of probability and statistics, a modern actuary could not do without. Our programme offers the following exemptions under the IFoA's new Curriculum 2019: CS1, CS2 (Actuarial Statistics) and CM2 (Actuarial Mathematics). If you are interested in developing a career as an actuary, this programme of study will provide the ideal entry platform into a broad range of employment sectors, such as Insurance, Finance and Risk Management. -
