This Master’s programme provides knowledge on current theories and models of aquatic ecosystems, the relation between watershed, atmosphere, lakes and streams, interactions between humankind and aquatic ecosystems, and water management. Practical training in laboratory and field methodology is also emphasised. Some of the courses contain week-long excursions where practical field studies are conducted; from hypotheses and preparations, via sampling, analysing samples and data, and finally writing a report and performing an oral presentation. -

The Master’s programme in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science (LUMES) equips change agents with tools for solving sustainability challenges. The programme is taught in a unique interdisciplinary and internationally excellent educational and research environment at the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS). Since the programme started in 1997, LUMES has had over 900 students from roughly 100 countries. The programme focuses on sustainability challenges from a local to the global level by combining social and natural science perspectives. Emphasis is placed on understanding present societal development patterns and the environmental problems they create, and on formulating strategies for future sustainable pathways. -

This programme presents a multidisciplinary education in the environmental sciences of the high latitudes. Due to accelerated changes, there is a need for experts with multidisciplinary training. The programme is a joint Nordic master of Agricultural University of Iceland with Lund University and the University of Helsinki, and students will graduate from two universities. The master program includes one semester in Iceland and students will have access to courses and research projects at any of the four additional EnCHiL partners. The curriculum contains a mandatory mobility period of at least one semester. -
