This program has the objective of preparing technicians able to actively follow and influence technological developments, working effectively in a competitive and multi-disciplinary industrial context. Various application sectors can be identified within the program, such as Production and conversion of different forms of energy, Civil and industrial thermomechanics and the hydrocarbon sector focused on the oil and gas industry.

M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering is highly research-oriented and is conducted in the unit's facilities and laboratories under the supervision of UNE faculty members. A wide variety of research subjects are covered at the UNE, including nuclear reactor physics, neutron transport, nuclear fuel cycle, nonproliferation strategies, applications of radiation in medicine, nuclear instruments for radiotherapy, Monte Carlo simulations of charged particles, radiation shielding, and the development of radiation detectors.

The Energy and Environmental Sciences (EES) Program provides a series of introductory courses that give a general overview of the problem-field, and then allows for specialization towards any of a broad range of subjects within energy or sustainability, treating it from a natural science perspective. However, it trains the students that the natural sciences/technical approach to and solution of problems is only a part of the story and collaboration with other scientific disciplines is vital.

Rotating Machinery, Engineering and Management is a specialist option of the MSc in Thermal Power providing a comprehensive background in the design and operation of different types of rotating equipment for power, oil, gas, marine and other surface applications.

This course covers all aspects of the gas turbine and other industrial prime movers. It aims to provide you with a thorough knowledge of, and the ability to, assess anthropogenic emissions.

Gas Turbine Technology is a specialist option of the MSc in Thermal Power providing a comprehensive background in the design and operation of different types of gas turbines for all applications.

Use of renewable resources and the application of renewable energy technologies will play a major role in future energy supply. Renewable energy is now at the heart of every informed discussion concerning energy sustainability, security and affordability. Graduates can expect to go on to a wide range of careers across the industrial and public sector.

The programme covers Renewable Energy, a growing area with tremendous opportunities for new technologies, businesses and ideas. Students gain in-depth knowledge of all major renewable technologies and the opportunity to specialise in areas of interest. Students also acquire skills in business and innovation management. The programme is offered by five European universities through EIT InnoEnergy.

The programme combines urban planning and energy management. The joint master's programme in Environomical Pathways for Sustainable Energy Systems equips students with skills to minimise the environmental impact of current and future energy systems. Students gain a broad knowledge of energy systems and follow a specialisation in, for example, Energy Efficiency, Solar Systems or Offshore Energy. Students also acquire skills in innovation and commerce. Eight universities offer the programme through EIT InnoEnergy.

The master's programme in Sustainable Energy Engineering provides advanced education in solar energy, power generation, energy utilisation and transformation of energy systems. Students gain a multidisciplinary foundation in energy engineering and skills to manage complex energy-related problems with a lifecycle perspective. Graduates lead the development in the energy sector with skills and insights into industrial challenges, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The master’s programme in Nuclear Energy Engineering covers all aspects of nuclear engineering, including the physics and technology of nuclear reactors, nuclear power safety and radiation protection. Students choose from numerous unique elective courses covering, for example, generation IV reactors and small modular reactors. Graduates design, operate, manage and develop nuclear facilities, usually as nuclear engineers, consultants, researchers and managers.
