New technologies such as electric cars or renewable and ecological power supply systems require fundamental research in electrical (energy) engineering. DC grids (used in batteries, hydrogen systems, or to distribute and transport electrical energy in an environmentally friendly way with cable grids), electric cars, and power electronics are the latest technologies aiming to provide a green and environmentally friendly energy supply. Introducing intelligence (SMART technology) into our power supply reduces costs as well as increases reliability and accessibility for the end consumer. MSc in Electrical Engineering

The programme combines a rigorous scientific and technical education with the development of practical skills. It encourages independence, creativity and inventiveness, and it shapes competent engineers who can contribute to society on many – if not all – levels. This programme is part of Bruface, which means it is organised by Vrije Universiteit Brussel jointly with Université Libre de Bruxelles. This allows students to use the adjacent infrastructures of both institutions, as well as giving them the opportunity to study in a multicultural context.

MSc in Electromechanical Engineering

Multidisciplinary training with an in-depth specialisation The two-year Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering integrates the study of electrical and mechanical engineering and research. This unique combination encourages a wide perspective, offering you the ability to bridge the gap between these two fields later on in your professional career. The multidisciplinary programme is complemented with an in-depth specialisation in one of four majors: Aeronautics, Energy, Mechatronics-Construction or Vehicle Technology and Transport.
