Imagine being part of building a satellite that you will see actually go into space. Freshman student Karina Quintana attended Professor Wilmer Arellano’s Engineering Orientation Class in fall 2012. The experiment was an extracurricular activity for EGN-1002 class and Karina took the challenge.

The idea would allow the satellite to passively align and allow picture taking. It can be seen from the video that not only would the on-board magnet align the axis of the satellite – according to the magnetic north – but it would also rotate the satellite over the axis. This satellite will go into space this year.
