Economics

A Master of Science, or a Master’s degree in Science is an academic degree delivered by Universities in many countries. A Master of Science is a popular choice after completing a Bachelor’s degree.

Those who study economics first and foremost learn the differences between microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics involves the behavior of individual markets, such as households and firms, and their interactions. Macroeconomics, on the other hand, involves looking at the entire economy as a whole.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom and Britain, is a sovereign state located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. The two most famous (and oldest) universities are Oxford and Cambridge (often referred to as Oxbridge by many Britons) England also has several other world-class institutions, including several in London (notably Imperial College, the London School of Economics, University College London and King's College London, all are part of London University)

Climate change, deforestation and unsustainable use of resources are all issues at the top of the environmental agenda. An understanding of the interactions between the environment and economics is essential for developing appropriate policies to tackle global issues in the long term. Environmental and natural resource economists deal every day with the most challenging problems facing mankind: global climatic change, environmental pollution, deforestation, biodiversity loss, water scarcity and food poverty, to name but a few. The Environmental and Natural Resource Economics MSc programme is unique in that it combines a solid foundation in key areas of economics, with specialized field courses. Students receive a thorough grounding in macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics, alongside an in-depth knowledge of the economics and policy of environmental pollution, renewable and non-renewable resource use, as well as the interaction between globalization and environmental degradation. In addition, we emphasise the development of the quantitative skills necessary to understand and perform empirical work in economics, with particular attention to the valuation of environmental goods in monetary terms.
