This course is suitable for graduates in psychology or related subjects, as well as professionals working with children as part of their continued professional development.

We cover a range of topics, from social and cognitive development to autism and other atypical developmental issues, to the health psychology of infant feeding practices.

Teaching is grounded in practice with input from social psychologists, health psychologists, neuropsychologists and primatologists. Overview

With a focus on infant and child development, the course addresses a comprehensive range of topics surrounding typical and atypical development. Different theoretical approaches to development will be explored together with consideration of comparative and cross-cultural approaches. You will be taught by academic staff at the forefront of psychological research and conduct a dissertation under their supervision.

A distinctive feature of our course is the opportunity to participate in ongoing research that the University is conducting in partnership with local Education Services for the Research in Practice module. This provides practical experience of conducting psychological research with young children.
