Thanks to Darwin, we know the process of evolution has shaped the bewildering variation we see around us. Through this Master's Degree programme students will acquire an explicit evolutionary biological perspective in the study of nature, thereby increasing capacity for understanding patterns and processes, on scales varying from the cellular to the ecosystem level. -

The future energy challenge calls for new supplies of affordable sustainable energy. Making greater use of the renewable energy systems available is a way to meet the climate change challenge while helping to secure the availability of energy supplies for us all. Bioenergy will be a significant part of clean and feasible energy systems in the future, and its use is increasing globally. When utilising bioenergy, we must ensure that it is sustainable and feasible. This Master's programme gives you skills to do this, from the feedstock of fuels to harvesting and thermal conversion to electricity and heat. During the studies, you will learn how different feedstock can be converted to electricity and heat and what requirements the fuel sets for the technology and system. In addition, you will learn how bioenergy systems work as a part of comprehensive energy systems. You will learn about energy economics and processes with respect to bioenergy systems. -
