The Department of Biological Sciences offers graduate study leading to a Master of Science degree. The selection of specialties, called tracks, available in the program provides an opportunity for continuing education in biology beyond the bachelor's degree for teachers, technicians, future Ph.D. candidates, and persons in the allied health professions, medical and other related fields.

The Master of Science program in Biology prepares students for employment in a variety of professional settings and for further study toward doctoral degrees such as the MD, DDS, and Ph.D. It is a comprehensive biological science program in which a student may concentrate primarily in cellular/molecular biology, physiology/developmental biology, conservation ecology, or biochemistry. The program is appropriate for students holding a baccalaureate degree in biology, health science, or related sciences, or for those who have taken the prerequisite undergraduate courses.
