Vehicle Engineering is a broad area of engineering science driven by an ever-increasing degree of mobility in the world. Transport, however, must face the challenge of minimising its environmental impact, requiring new, innovative solutions and capable engineers. This is a field that will continually demand specialists in order to make the transition to sustainable road and rail transport in the future. The master’s programme in Vehicle Engineering explores both Automotive and Railway Engineering. -

Railway transport is experiencing a worldwide renaissance. It offers substantial economic benefits, energy efficiency, and environmental and safety benefits. Rail is widely viewed as a vital component of the integrated transportation system for sustainable societies of the future. There is substantial demand for engineers with an integrated knowledge of railway subsystems (infrastructure, vehicles and traffic control) who understand how to maximise the performance of the whole system. -

Logistics and traffic keep our modern world moving. Just think of the increase in self-driving cars and trucks, or the transport pressures of e-commerce: we live in a super dynamic logistic machine. You click ‘buy it now and an automated warehouse springs into action. Within 24 hours your purchase is at your front door, the last step in a complex supply chain. Modern traffic systems increasingly pursue logistics and optimization: from fleet management of shared cars and bikes to enterprises that provide integrated mobility-as-a-service. Governmental planning agencies and public transport operators cooperate with trendy firms to consign the use of unsustainable private cars to the history books. -

The Master's programme in Vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems Development prepares students for professional activity in development, planning, and production in the fast-changing field of physical electrical systems. Future employment may be with automobile manufacturers, suppliers, development service providers, or tool manufacturers, or indeed with companies developing and producing electrical systems for aviation, the railways, or plants. The course conveys skills in, among other areas, electrical engineering (e.g. automotive electronics and electrical systems architecture), mechanical engineering (e.g. theory of mechanical vibration), production and manufacturing technology including logistics as well as management and business administration. The implementation of the programme is supported by companies that are involved in the field of physical electrical systems. There is also close cooperation with these companies. We recommend following this programme alongside in-depth practical experience (dual study). The university may be of assistance in finding a suitable company. -
