Designed to challenge and inspire, our programme is intensive and academically challenging. Youll analyse relevant academic theories and apply models, tools and techniques to real fashion marketing situations. Well encourage you to critically develop independent, inquiring and creative approaches to strategic fashion marketing issues and problems.

Educational Aims of the Programme

The MSc International Fashion Marketing programme aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by fashion marketers operating in an international environment and the strategies, policies and practices key to managing these challenges. Central to the programme is the personal and professional development of students with an emphasis on responsible leadership and sustainable management practice.

The stated values of the MSc International Fashion Marketing are to be intellectually challenging, vocationally relevant and to be responsive to student and fashion industry needs. Given these values, the overall aim of the programme is to provide students with an intellectually challenging and vocationally relevant education to Masters level in the area of International Fashion Marketing but also with emphasis on digital marketing applications.

This Masters degree will enhance student employability through participation in a wide-range of teaching and learning experiences including integrative case studies, group projects and presentations, industry speakers and the opportunity for active industry engagement.

The programme aims to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a career in International Fashion Marketing. Students may come from a background of having studied a business or fashion related subject who wish to gain a greater understanding of International Fashion Marketing to enhance their career opportunities. However, the programme will also be attractive to applicants who have studied non-business/fashion related subjects (e.g., engineering, social sciences, psychology, etc) at undergraduate level. The programme is offered on a full time and part time basis

The programme team believe the programme or modules within it will appeal to existing entrepreneurs and working managers and the team is keen for practitioners to apply. The programme welcomes applications through the Flexible Entry route involving Credit Transfer and RPL.

The primary aim of this programme is to provide a broad, analytical and integrative study of International Fashion Marketing. Specifically, the educational aims are stated as follows:

  1. To provide a differentiated Masters level learning experience that combines common and programme specific modules allowing student to benefit from the School’s expertise in global business strategy, organisational ethics, personal and professional development and its niche strengths in areas of applied business and management
To offer students opportunities to simultaneously develop critical thinking skills, knowledge of contemporary and sustainable management practices and the personal and entrepreneurial abilities necessary to gain graduate employment in a domestic or international setting

To offer a broad spectrum of knowledge relating to organisational management and to develop attitudes and skills necessary to succeed as an responsible/ethical, independent and professional manager/ practitioner To develop critical research skills necessary for the successful completion of a complex and independently designed research project To develop students in-depth, applied and integrated knowledge of contemporary fashion marketing management with a national and international context To facilitate practical and creative skills development in key areas of fashion marketing centring on consumer insights, marketing planning, branding and use of digital technologies To offer specialist in-depth insights into then fashion marketing activities and strategies of international organisations To provide a range of opportunities for market analysis and decision making in the areas of marketing strategy and communication in a fashion context To provide a critical understanding of international fashion supply chain management and the dynamic nature, characteristics and inter-relationships that exist between the activities of forecasting, product development, buying and logistics in the fashion industry

Course Modules

Strategic Decisions in the International Fashion Marketplace

Reflects upon fashion brand creation and maintenance, fashion communication decisions, routes to market, the role of retail, pricing decisions, critical pathways, operationalization and implementation, contingency planning and strategic evaluation.

Consumer Led Fashion Marketing

Focuses on consumer-led practices within international fashion marketing. Given the aesthetic nature of fashion the module pays particular attention to the visual components of the communications mix.

Digital Fashion Branding and Delivery

Explores the role of technology in the development of fashion brands and comprehensive digital marketing campaigns. You will also examine fashion forecasting, product development, and buying and logistics.

Fashion Buying, Merchandising and Distribution

Enables you to develop a critical understanding of challenges and choices in the global business environment and implications for management. Contemporary Issues for Business and Society Explores the geo-political, economic, social and technological environments in which businesses operate and encourage you to critically reflect upon these issues.

Personal and Professional Development

Enables you to identify, understand, develop and articulate your personal abilities in the context of your future career aspirations.

Research Methods

Develops your advanced skills related to a range of research methods needed for academic and practical research at Masters Level.


The final element of the programme is the dissertation, which provides you with an opportunity to design and undertake a piece of original research in a selective area of international fashion marketing.
