Tuition Fees and Scholarships
The Master's Degree Programme in International Business and Sales Management does not charge tuition fees from citizens of EU/EEA countries. However, following a decision by the Finnish Government, tuition fees will be charged from citizens of non-EU/EEA countries from September 2017 onwards. The tuition fee is 8,000 euros per academic year, and it includes the studies included in the degree (120 ECTS) and studies-related counselling and supervision. In addition, the tuition fee includes assistance in applying for student housing, an orientation programme, an appointed student tutor, access to IT services, wireless Internet access on campus, and free use of the library.
For non-EU/EEA students required to pay tuition, the University of Eastern Finland offers a generous and attractive scholarship scheme, which can cover their tuition fee either in full or partially. The scholarship is applied for when applying for admission to the university by filling out the relevant section of the application form. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of the student's academic achievements described in the admission criteria. The scholarship is personal and it is awarded for two academic years.
In Finland, you must take responsibility for supporting yourself. Before you come to Finland, make sure that your finances will be sufficient for the entire period of your studies. Residence permits for students are normally granted for one year at a time. Income is investigated in connection with every application. You will need to have access to at least 560 euro a month to pay for your accommodation, food and other expenses. For one year of residence, you will, therefore, need to have 6,720 euro available. Please visit www.migri.fi for further information. EU citizens who come to Finland to study do not need to apply for a student residence permit; however, they too are expected to be able to cover their living costs independently.
In addition to the scholarship for studies available to non-EU/EEA students, the university offers all students a range of services that take off some of the financial burdens on the student. The cost of living in Finland is relatively high and students are expected to cover these independently and have access to sufficient funds. For example, students have free access to the collections of the University Library, there are computers and a free WiFi on campus available to students, as well as a number of other supporting services designed to facilitate the everyday life of our students. As members of the Student Union, students are also entitled to student health care services provided by the Finnish Student Health Service. Membership in the Student Union comes with a variety of leisure time activities organised for free. Membership in the Student Union is mandatory for all degree-seeking students, and the Student Union membership fee is 126 euros per academic year.
