Overview

Accounting and finance roles have increasingly taken on an international dimension. With growing globalisation and the convergence of international accounting practices, this course meets the business world’s demand for graduates who are educated to Masters level in International Accounting and Finance.

The course provides specialised training in international accounting and finance and helps you develop the specialised reporting and analysis skills needed by worldwide organisations. It also enables you to gain an appreciation of international investment issues from a range of perspectives.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to offer employers an understanding of international reporting standards which have an increasing global relevance, along with an advanced awareness of international financial markets.

Accreditation

The MSc International Accounting and Finance is accredited by ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the global accounting body.

This accreditation gives graduates automatic exemption from four of their papers, F1-F4 with a fifth and sixth, F7 and F9, possible based on the spring semester options that are chosen.

Some of the MSc modules also cover elements of the learning outcomes from all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme, helping you progress towards CFA Charterholder status.

Student Managed Investment Fund

Our students have established a Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF), with the support of our academics within the Accounting and Finance Division. It allows you to gain practical experience of managing investments with real money. A student-led project, it will help you to enhance your employability before you graduate – giving you an exceptional practical understanding of theoretical aspects of investment valuation.

Gain real-life experience at Amplify Trading Boot Camp

The course includes an innovative week-long global financial trading and training boot camp run by our partner Amplify Trading. The boot camp won the CFA Institute’s Innovative Delivery of Education (IDEA) Award in 2015. You’ll trade futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). By getting you to trade in real time, but with virtual money, the boot camp bridges the gap between an academic understanding of financial markets and how they function in practice.
