The Master of Science in Finance program at Koç University provides a thorough foundation in finance and enhances the applied financial analysis and research skills needed by finance professionals.
The program is a 31 credit non-thesis program. It is designed to be completed in a 13-month period organized in 3 semesters. Classes are held on two evenings on weekdays (Monday and Wednesday) from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm throughout the year. Classes are held at the Koç University İstinye Campus.
Students are first introduced to the general framework of financial theories and concepts in Financial Statements & Reporting, Quantitative Investment Analysis, Corporate Finance, Investments, and Ethics in Finance. Knowledge and skills acquired in the initial courses allow for advanced discussions in Derivatives, Fintech and BlockChain, Risk Management, and Advanced Corporate Finance. Finally, students apply their cumulative knowledge in Valuation, Financial Modeling, Mergers, and Acquisitions.
CFA Institute is the largest global membership association of investment professionals and it administers CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CIPM (Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement), and Investment Foundations curriculums and exam programs worldwide.
CFA Institute is affiliated with a limited number of select Universities that embed the CFA Program curriculum into their degree programs. Affiliated universities are recognized as leaders and serve as role models to other institutions. Koç University was selected as the first partner program in Turkey and is still among the affiliated Universities. Within the scope of this affiliation program, Koç MSc in Finance program covers a significant portion of CFA content in its curriculum, and selected students are awarded scholarships for the CFA exams.

Core & Elective Courses
In order to hold a Koç MSc in Finance degree, a student must fulfill the following;
Complete successfully 7 core courses and a minimum of 5 elective courses.
Participate in Teamwork and Leadership workshop.
Submit an individual YÖK graduation project.
Have a minimum of 3.00 GPA by the end of the program.
YÖK Graduation Project (1 credit-required)
In accordance with the regulations and requirements of the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK), the Koç MSc in Finance degree does not require a graduation thesis, but a graduation project. Research term project conducted individually by the student under the guidance of a faculty member. Results in a written project report.
Teamwork and leadership course is held as a workshop which aims at building the skills for effective teamwork and leadership under complex situations with time and competitive pressures.
Organizational teams are often fraught with challenges in effectively integrating diverse expertise of team members’ especially when their interests overlap only partially. This workshop focuses on the emergence of process losses in collaboration and on the best practices for preventing such losses. Participants will explore impediments to effective collaboration such as pressure for conformity and affective conflict, and discover leadership strategies for effectively dealing with such challenges. Participation to this course is required.
Beside the Curriculum
Coaching for leadership program consists of assessments, coaching structures, essentials of both 1-1 and team coaching, real-time coaching practice, and reflective writing assignments. The objective of the overall program is to provide Koç GSB students with all the fundamental professional guidance in the management of their careers. The program helps students improve their outlook on work and life while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential. The program is held on monthly basis sessions spread over a period of 9 months. Each session takes 3 hours. Participation in this program is voluntary.
The Koç University Career Development Center aims to assist the students and alumni of the university in exploring career options, preparing for opportunities, and using the university’s extensive and dynamic network to establish the necessary connections for them to make informed and fulfilling career choices.
Career Development Center helps students and alumni explore the links between their majors and their career choices, actively participates in the search for employment opportunities through intelligent analysis and preparation, and assesses the fit between prospective jobs and long-term career plans. The center works by both an appointment and a walk-in system.

Students can also receive career consulting from Koç University’s Career Development Center and use the Online Koç University Company-Employer Database covering over 1500 companies for the purpose of job search.
The first and foremost condition for joining the Koç MSc in Finance Program is to be a highly motivated and dedicated individual. In addition, applicants must possess the following qualifications:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (*studies abroad should be recognized by Turkish Higher Education Council)
Minimum two years of full-time professional work experience
Proficiency in English
In order to apply to the MSc in Finance Program, the applicants must complete the online application and upload the following;
An official academic transcript from every university attended
Three essays as specified
Application fee payment slip
Two reference letters
Two Reference Letters should be submitted for the application. The candidate should provide the contact information of those who will fill in the reference letters in the online application. The references will be provided with the web link of the reference letter form via e-mail.
Selected applicants will be called for an interview by the Graduate School of Business. The candidates will be given a short article to read and study before the interview and will be asked to answer questions related to the article as a part of the interview process. Standardized tests such as TOEFL and GMAT may also be required.
All the international students’ undergrad diplomas from the Universities abroad should be recognized by the Higher Education Council of Turkey. If they are not recognized by YOK, the students’ applications will not be valid to any Turkish University. This process will be conducted on behalf of the student by the KU Registrar’s Office.
Turkish students whose undergrad degrees’ are from Universities located outside of Turkey are expected to supply equivalency documents by applying YOK individually.

There are no scholarships available for the MSc in Finance program.
