Is it your dream to work towards an environment where health is a key issue? Are you interested in solving the environmental challenges that we are already facing? And do you think it is fun to work with different issues in an interdisciplinary manner? The Environmental Engineering programme at Aalborg University offers you the opportunity to participate in the development of new processes and technology, which can form the base for sustainable energy production and resource management.
If you hold another qualifying education than a BSc in Engineering, for instance, a Bachelor in Biology, you can enrol in the Master of Science in Technology programme in Environmental Engineering.
The programme can also be studied as a Master of Science in Engineering. Applicants who hold a BSc in Engineering can apply for this programme.
About the programme
The programme is cross-disciplinary, and you use your knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology, and microbiology to investigate and solve environmental challenges in cities, industry, agriculture and nature.
Within Environmental Engineering, you can for instance work with energy from biomass and waste, biological air cleaning in industry and animal farming, methods for rapid detection of bacteria in drinking water, biological methods for assessment of water quality in rivers and lakes or improvement of indoor climate in buildings at contaminated soil sites.
You will learn both to prevent and to solve a wide range of environmental problems.
RATED FOR EXCELLENCE
Aalborg University is rated for excellence in the QS-ranking system. Aalborg University has received five stars certifying the world-class position of the university based on cutting-edge facilities and internationally renowned research and teaching faculty. Within Engineering and Technology, Aalborg University ranks as number 79 in the world in the QS-system. Likewise, in the Shanghai Ranking system, Aalborg University's engineering and technology programmes are ranked among the top 100 in the world.
PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING (PBL)
Aalborg University is famous for its problem based learning where you work in a team on a large written assignment often collaborating with an industrial partner. This study method is also called “The Aalborg Model for Problem Based Learning”. The method is highly recognised internationally, and the university is host to a successful UNESCO Chair in Problem Based Learning in Engineering Education and a Centre for PBL and Sustainability approved by UNESCO.
The problem-based project work at Aalborg University gives you a unique opportunity to acquire new knowledge and competencies at a high academic level in an independent manner. You get to apply theory to practice when you work to solve real-life problems, and you will be well-prepared for your future career.
