The MSc in Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking is a joint program co-created with Laval Design School, our academic partner since September 2013. Taught half in English and half in French, it aims to equip you with an entrepreneurial culture supported by a strong design orientation.
Developing an entrepreneurial culture means providing you with project engineering skills and expertise that can be used effectively in any kind of context from starting up a business through to international business development activities. Graduates from this specialist course will also be in demand by employers who are looking to boost their activities or reinvent their business model.
Taken in its broadest sense, the design will offer you the skills to allow you to think differently in completely new environments. As an extra bonus, by studying in French for one semester in Quebec and in English for one semester in Paris, you will develop invaluable inter-cultural skills and understanding to make you into a confident global-minded graduate.
Why ESSCA – MSc Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking
"As head of a business that promotes design as a tool for economic development and innovation, I welcome the creation of this program. Bringing these skills into a business can help the emergence of highly innovative projects as part of a structured development plan whilst promoting a better understanding across an organization of the mechanisms involved. My hope is that design management within major companies will soon be an integral part of their activities". Françoise Seince, Head Manager at Ateliers de Paris
Grow your business ideas across 2 continents
We have selected 2 of the hotspots in the world for our students to learn everything there is to know about business creation and innovation. Paris, the entrepreneurial hub of France and the University of Laval in Québec, where over 700 business start-ups have been hosted since 1993 will offer you unique perspectives on how new businesses emerge and develop their activities to become successful entities in their own right.
Our exciting campus location on the doorsteps of Paris represents the best that France has to offer overseas students. The ‘City of Light’ is a leading global city famed by students for its amazing history, culture, business, and leisure opportunities! Located in Boulogne-Billancourt on the banks of the Seine and only a short walk from Pont de Saint-Cloud metro station, our 8-storey campus building is just a 15-minute journey from the world-famous Champs Elysée and Eiffel Tower. The area is one of the major business zones in the Paris region and home to numerous corporate head offices employing more than 100,000 key staff. And with more than 400m² of business incubator space available, ESSCA supports innovative start-up activity from inside and outside the School of Management.
The University of Laval offers students an academic and research environment driven by innovation and excellence. Located on the St. Lawrence River, Québec is a safe, affordable, and friendly student city where you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to relaxing and having fun when class finishes. There is something for every taste, from a vibrant arts and culture scene to the city’s surrounding mountains, rivers, and lakes. And for budding entrepreneurs, the University of Laval really is the Mecca, its business incubation program ranked N°1 in North America in 2015 and among the best in the world in 2018 by UBI Global.
