With a master's degree, you will get engineering competencies and general knowledge in areas such as computer science, electronics, unmanned aerial systems technology, and robotics combined with an ability to comprehend advanced and highly technological contexts.

Two specializations

At the master's program, you can choose one of two specializations: Advanced Robotics Technology and Drones and Autonomous Systems.

If you specialize in Advanced Robotics your thesis can e.g. be in the following subjects:

  • Mathematical modeling and computer-based model analysis
  • Sensor technology
  • Computer systems and data transmission
  • Computer vision
  • Modern artificial intelligence

If you specialize in Drones and Autonomous Systems your thesis can e.g. be in the following subjects:

  • Drone software engineering
  • Aircraft navigation and path planning
  • Autonomous behavior of flying, crawling, or swimming robots
  • Unmanned aircraft safety
  • Bio-inspired flying robots i.e. flapping-wing drones
  • Flight controllers

During your studies, you will get a thorough knowledge of the theory behind robotics such as mathematics, computer science, and physics as well as of the more practical engineering subjects such as digital technique, electronics, and robotics.

As a robotics engineer, you will be able to apply this knowledge in new contexts. Especially in areas which today are part of an amazing development with the integration of computers in a wealth of products and systems.

Program structure

At the master program you choose one of two specializations:

  • Advanced Robotics Technology
  • Drones and Autonomous Systems

The first and second semester
The first and second semesters of the master program are focused on your chosen specialization: Advanced Robotics Technology or Drones and Autonomous Systems. Depending on the specialization, you will work theoretically and experimentally with topics such as kinematics, drone technology, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, autonomous systems, and computer vision. This provides all students with a common and broad foundation which qualifies them for many different jobs, regardless of their specialization.

Third and fourth semesters
The next two semesters broaden the scope of the two specializations. The third semester aims to provide space for electives and integrate skills, whereas the last semester is dedicated to the master thesis. For the master thesis, you will choose the subject yourself. The master thesis will typically be carried out in one of the research groups and/or in cooperation with an industrial company.

Advanced Robotics Technology

With a specialization in Advanced Robotics Technology you are qualified for jobs in for example:

  • Robot systems
  • Embedded systems
  • Programming and software engineering
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Industrial automation.

Your tasks could, for example, be data processing and development of:

  • Robots
  • Mobile phones
  • Web applications
  • Machine construction
  • Security systems
  • Large software applications.

Drone Technology (Unmanned Aerial Systems Technology)

With a specialization in Drone Technology, you primarily work in the private sector. E.g. with:

  • Research and development
  • Implementation of research methodologies and research results
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Counseling and project management

Within

  • Aircraft navigation and path planning
  • Autonomous behavior
  • Flight controllers
  • Sensors and signal processing
  • Image processing and computer vision
  • Aircraft software engineering
  • Unmanned aircraft safety.

With this program, you are qualified for a job in Denmark or abroad and for studies at the Ph.D. level.
