Electronics and Communications Engineering
This is a 2-year graduate programme entirely taught in English, offered to both national and international students.
The Master's Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering aims to form a graduate with advanced skills in processing and information-transmission systems of and to provide more specific knowledge in the design of devices and electronic systems. It provides the skills and methodological tools needed to design and develop systems for signal and image processing, antenna design, microwave systems and devices, analog and digital electronic design with applications in the fields of electronics, telecommunications.
The program provides methodologies of advanced mathematical calculus, in particular, functional and complex analysis, in order to introduce the necessary tools to model and formalize the solutions of complex information engineering problems. The training is complemented by providing advanced knowledge on the different topics characterizing the fields of Telecommunications and Electronics by providing advanced knowledge and skills for digital transmission techniques, theoretical and practical aspects of the information theory, analysis and management of telecommunication networks, representation and protection of multimedia information, advanced knowledge on the design of sensors and microsystems, on radio-frequency components, on analog and digital circuit design. In general, along with a solid math/science/engineering education, the option is given of choosing training student-dedicated paths which meet the requirements that technological innovation demands in application fields such as security, safety, energy and environment.
ACTIVE DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE MASTER PROGRAMME IN ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
The University of Siena (UNISI) and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) executed an agreement, to organize a Double Degree Master programme. The two Institutions will award the following degrees:
- Master in Electronics and Communications Engineering, University of Siena
- Master in Telecommunications Engineering, University Carlos III of Madrid
International students wishing to apply for a Laurea Magistrale (Master’s Degree) must possess a degree or a university three-year diploma, or another study qualification from overseas, recognized as suitable, and with specific curricular requisites and adequate personal preparation, verified with the modes set out in the learning regulations for each master’s degree course, that also state the specific access criteria.
Please note that some programmes may have a restricted access and the application could be subject to admission tests.
International students wishing to enroll at a first cycle (bachelor - laurea triennale) degree programme taught in Italian or English or to the non-restricted access single cycle degree in Giurisprudenza at the University of Siena, can submit their documents in order to receive a letter of acceptance through the online platform within the deadline set by the University for each academic year.
The applications on the online platform for the assessment of entry qualifications of international students wishing to enroll on a first (undergraduate) or second (master's) cycle degree programme taught in Italian or English at the University of Siena will have different time frames according to the different courses. Students are invited to visit periodically this platform - http://enrolment.unisi.it/ - in order to see which applications are open and the relevant deadlines.
Universities and Higher Education Institutions are entitled to officially recognize international qualifications.
Please remember that this procedure does not transform a foreign secondary school diploma into an Italian qualification.
A Strong International Mission
In its eight Centuries of history, the University of Siena has been producing a wide range of studies in many different fields of culture.
Over the years the University of Siena has enhanced its strategy for internationalization, aiming to strengthen its international academic relationships and to attract students and researchers from different parts of the world.
At the early 21st Century this historical Institution has been able to face challenges related to the globalization of learning, knowledge, and research with a wide number of international collaborations.
New international collaboration agreements and projects established each year, increasing number of Degrees and courses delivered in English, holding good placement in National and International Rankings; these are some of the University of Siena’s strong points.
