Program Description

Bar-Ilan University is a dynamic, forward-looking institution and leader in high-tech research and development. This two-year program taught entirely in English, offers tracks in electro-optics, nano and microelectronics, data science and information technology (signal processing, communications, computer engineering), and bioengineering. The MSc in Electrical Engineering is intended for those who have excelled in their BSc degree in Engineering and are eager to advance themselves in this cutting-edge field.

Application Requirements

  • BSc degree or equivalent in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Professional resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors or employers
  • Short (up to one page) statement of purpose explaining reasons for interest in the program

Academic Program Thesis Track

  • One graduate-level seminar (including submission of an article for publication)
  • Five special graduate-level courses
  • Participation in a department colloquium
  • Graduate thesis

Extended Studies Track (without Thesis)

  • Three graduate-level seminars (including two seminars papers)
  • Six special graduate-level courses
  • Participation in a department colloquium
  • Final research project

During the course of their degree, students are also required to take 1-2 Jewish Studies courses or 1-2 general elective courses.

Tuition Fees

  • Non-citizens and Tourists: Tuition is NIS 18,000 (approximately $4,700) per year for a full-time program.
  • Israeli Citizens: Tuition is NIS 14,600 (approximately $3,800) per year for a full-time program.

Tuition includes additional fees for campus security and student services. Fees are charged in Israeli currency and may fluctuate slightly according to annual government standards and the exchange rate at the time of payment.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

New immigrants to Israel who are under the age of 30 are eligible to receive significant tuition subsidies (for up to two years) from the government of Israel through the Student Immigration Authority.

Bar-Ilan University offers students the opportunity to apply for both need-based and merit-based scholarships. In addition, there are numerous organizations and foundations which offer financial assistance for study in Israel that students are highly encouraged to explore.
