We will focus on safeguarding, digital victimisation, rehabilitation policy and practice, and risk and security management, among other areas. In addition to enhancing your theoretical command of criminology, you will develop advanced research skills, suitable for theoretical and practical application. As a result, you will be equipped to respond to a range of complex challenges faced by multi-agency professionals with a remit to safeguard communities.

This versatile qualification is useful in careers focused on reducing crime-related harm, especially in multi-agency safeguarding or community safety partnerships. These include: probation and offender management, policing and public protection, local authority social care, health, fire and rescue, as well as organisations working in substance misuse, domestic abuse, housing, and support for victims.
At the policy and practice level, there is increased recognition of the need to develop sophisticated approaches to contextual safeguarding and risk reduction. Following your masters, you may wish to continue your academic career by undertaking a PhD in criminology or a cognate discipline.
