This has formed the basis for a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree on Business Economics and Management (2012-2013).

MAICh's hallmark is the quality of teaching staff who are faculty members in renowned universities in the EU, Canada, and the USA.

The programme of Business Economics and Management plays an active role in assisting its graduates to pursue PhD studies with full scholarships. Many former students are currently pursuing academic careers at well-known universities. M.Sc. graduates also constitute suitable employees in teaching, research institutions, government and international agencies, management companies, aid programs, local authorities and as consultants in the private sector.


The programme of Business Economics and Management values interdisciplinary approaches to learning and is dedicated to offering the best possible education and research training to endow students with the knowledge and skills required for the competitive regional and global marketplace.


The objectives of the first part of the Master’s programme (Postgraduate Specialization Course) are to: - support management through merging the necessary knowledge of the economic theory regarding resource allocation and evaluation in their social context; - facilitate decision making through the application of modern operational management methodologies and techniques to achieve efficiency; - provide the advanced knowledge on the application of econometric theory to business market situations within the frame of the Common Agricultural Policy; - specify the requirements of the business strategic management: business requirements relative to financial and marketing strategies and the tools of market research.

First year students are introduced to some basic principles of economics and management through a wide variety of modules, receiving solid theoretical and practical training in the following areas: - management, - financial management, - market research, - e-commerce, - marketing of food quality and organic products, - regional management, - rural development, - operation research, - project appraisal, and - agricultural economics.

Participants follow lectures, complemented by round-table discussions, case studies and power point presentations. Field and computer laboratory exercises combined with these courses provide a more practical and tangible perspective.

In the second part of the programme (Master’s thesis), participants complete their training through the elaboration of scientific research work, applying the knowledge, methods and techniques acquired during the first year of specialization.
