MSc in Business Administration: Entrepreneurship & Innovation

University of Amsterdam

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation track is one of six possible specialisation tracks in the Business Administration Master’s programme. If you are a dynamic and creative person whose ambition is to apply these skills in a business environment, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation track at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) is the ideal outlet for your creativity.

After successful completion of this programme, you will receive a legally accredited Master’s degree in Business Administration and the title Master of Science (MSc).

The one-year programme has a strong international focus and reflects a research-based approach to the field of Business Administration, in general, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation, in particular. If you aim to make your own individual mark on the business world, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation (E&I) track will provide you with a comprehensive set of tools.

About this track

The E&I track is designed to prepare you for a career in any of multiple industries and in virtually every part of the world. By discussing and reflecting on recent research articles, you will be exposed to the latest theories and models. You will also examine the practice of E&I in the form of case studies, guest lectures and cooperation with industry partners.

This one-year Master's programme offers courses in Theories of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, International Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. The first course focuses on the process of discovering, developing and exploiting opportunities for new products, services and business models. International Entrepreneurship is an interactive course, during which you will be expected to actively participate in discussing articles (discussion seminars) on a variety of topics, including opportunity recognition, entrepreneurship and globalisation, venture capital and crowd funding, and corporate and social entrepreneurship. Innovation Management provides the knowledge and skills needed to analyse, design and implement innovations, and develop strategies for new business creation.

Programme structure

The Master of Science in Business Administration is a one-year programme of 60 ECTS credits (1 ECTS credit = 0.5 US credits). The academic year runs from September to the beginning of July and is divided into two semesters, each with three periods. If you choose to follow the International Management or Marketing specialisation you may start your programme in either September or February.

The Master's thesis is the final piece of work you will be required to complete prior to graduation and is based on your chosen track. Your thesis must be individually written and will be supervised by one of the lecturers from the relevant track. Business Administration offers a structured thesis process, which enables you to finish your Master's degree within the given year.
