The recent growth in applications for phones, tablets and other mobile devices has created a new sector in the software development industry and a demand for highly skilled application developers. We have created this course to meet the demand for mobile application software and content for platforms such as iOS, Android and Windows.

You will be taught creative content design alongside software development skills that can be applied to industries around the world. We provide you with the knowledge to design and develop quality mobile applications for the growing mobile application market. You will also have the opportunity to practice your skills and develop professional standard mobile applications through project work.

We offer a unique combination of technical software development and creative skills necessary for new mobile devices.

January entrants please note: in order to complete 12 months of academic study delivered in University term time, the total length of your programme will be 18 months to include recognised University vacation periods.


Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Computing or Multimedia, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional.

IELTS: IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

Mature Applicants Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

Please note that all applicants to our University are required to meet our standard English language requirement of GCSE grade C or equivalent, variations to this will be listed on the individual course entry requirements.


You will be taught by experts in the field - software developers, creative designers, games designers and technologists - staff who will give you help and advice with your career or with setting up your own entrepreneurial activities.

We have excellent equipment and resources including state-of-the-art laboratories supporting software development, 2D and 3D content design, audio content production and high level content creation tools.

Studying part-time gives you the flexibility to learn at your own pace. Because of this, our tuition fees are calculated using credit points. Each module you study has a credit point value. Most taught postgraduate modules have a credit point value of 20.The tuition fee for students entering in in 2015/16 on this course is £660 for each 20 credit point module.For modules with a different credit point value their cost can be calculated by multiplying the credit value of the module by the cost per credit point of £33. The amount you will pay may increase each year in line with inflation.
