• The changing face of the financial services industry calls for new thinking about the role of the financial markets and creativity in the management of portfolios, to provide unique solutions to unique problems posed by the recent financial crisis. This programme is a specialist finance programme which has been carefully crafted to respond to these unique challenges by providing you with the necessary tools to succeed in this environment. Moreover, the programme will offer you the opportunity to gain Chartered Wealth Management (CWM) status with the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI), in addition to the MSc award.

• Study the ever-changing world of finance, investment and wealth management after the global banking and European sovereign debt crises • Develop a critical understanding of the global financial market environment with access to our state-of-the-art Bloomberg Trading Room • Explore issues in financial markets, portfolio management and construction and applied wealth management, supported by experienced, research-active staff • Additional option to gain CWM status from the CISI, a world leading professional body in the financial services industry.
What will I gain?
You will develop a clear understanding of the global financial market environment as well the quantitative tools and research skills to put theory into practice. You will undertake independent research in a topic area of interest to you and may lead to publication. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of seminars and conferences, and benefit from the School’s strong links with the City of London.
Additionally, we will offer you the option to take the CISI exams to gain Chartered Wealth Management status. This will set you apart from potential employers in the financial services industry in that it provides you with formal training in the market. Taking the CISI exams will have no bearing on the MSc.
What will I study?
The first term will cover Investment element and term two looks at the Wealth Management component. The programme covers financial markets, the theory of portfolio construction and management, investment planning and applied wealth management. However, the focus is on the development of the person, namely acquiring the knowledge and skills to succeed in the financial services industry.
Where will I study?
Our Canterbury campus is within sight of the famous Canterbury Cathedral, and five minutes’ walk from the city centre. Canterbury is a busy, attractive city, full of historic buildings, and with shops and restaurants offering a great student lifestyle, all within walking distance. It is also one of the safest cities in the country.
Do I qualify?
This programme is suitable for those who already have a relevant economics, finance, business or related quantitative degree. A good honours degree and English proficiency in English academic IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, is required.
How much does it cost?
For a September 2014 start, the Graduate MBA at Canterbury Campus costs £9000 for UK & EU students, and £12,000 for non-EU, international students. This is one of the best rates available in the UK. 20% discount for CCCU Alumni
