Start dates: September, January, May
Working in a large, modern, international organisation, a medium sized company or even a small start-up firm requires a range of business capabilities. The most valuable employees are those who have not only a sound knowledge and understanding of the various parts of a business but those who are quick learners and team players with leadership potential.
The MSc Business with International Management programme will give students both the general business knowledge and understanding as well as the personal skills needed for a wide variety of roles. The programme has been developed for recent graduates in non-business disciplines who wanted to add a business dimension to their undergraduate specialism.
The programme is designed around compulsory modules common to all the Business pathways, covering general business functions, strategic management and organisational analysis. In completing these modules, the programme aimed to develop your competency in understanding and applying strategic awareness, your leadership potential as well as the theory and practise of international business.
The second semester offers the opportunity to specialise in International Management, where you will explore issues such as marketing and the specialised management skills required for this globalised environment. The third, and final semester will focus on completing your research and the writing of your dissertation. You will be assigned a personal research supervisor, an academic who will provide support throughout your dissertation, you will be required to submit an assessed research proposal prior to embarking on the dissertation itself.
Graduates on the programme have joined a wide range of businesses, including graduate training schemes, whilst a significant number of graduates have gone back to work for a family business or even started up their own business.
The course is also available as MSc Business International Management with Advanced Practise, which includes either an internship or project giving you the experience of the workplace environment and valuable opportunity to put your learning into practice. The internship will take place between your second and final semester, and it may be paid or unpaid.
