This program is right for you if
- You are working in an area of finance -- portfolio management, corporate finance, investment or commercial banking, securities analysis, mutual funds or personal financial planning. And you understand that an advanced degree will enhance your professional capability and credibility not to mention career advancement.
- You are interested in a career in finance and possess strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
- You want to interact with other finance professionals whose experience and perspectives will enrich your learning both now and in the future.
Quick Facts
The program starts every Fall. Required courses and most finance electives are offered in the evening at the Batterymarch campus. While most students complete the program on a part-time basis, it is possible to study full-time.
To earn the degree, you must complete 30 semester hours of credit (18 hours of required courses; 12 hours of electives) and achieve a 3.000-grade point average. You may receive a waiver and/or transfer credit which will reduce the total number of credits required.
Curriculum
MSF required courses include:
- Financial Theory and Policy
- Analysis of Financial Institutions and Markets
- Investment Analysis
- International Financial Markets
- Financial Seminar
- Financial Strategy
Elective courses may be selected from a variety of Finance courses (three credits may be non-finance). Students may also participate in two-week international summer programs in Asia, Eastern Europe, and France.
Students interested in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation will find that faculty members have integrated CFA materials into the curriculum. Students pursuing the Certified Financial Planner designation may take one or two electives in the Graduate School of Professional Accounting.
