Introduction

The Master in Urban Management (MGU) offered by the Pilot University of Colombia is conceived as postgraduate training that allows professionals from different disciplines to complement their training in various areas that contribute to the management and development of the city. We are entering the 21st century with more than 50% of the population living in urban areas, and in some Latin American cities this figure can increase to close to 70%, and with an increasing trend as a result of the offer of services, well-being and security that the city is supposed to offer, in front of the historical neglect of the rest of the territory. This situation brings with it a significant demand for housing, environmental, social, and public services, in addition to constant movements of inhabitants to different sectors of the city in order to attend to their activities (work, study, residence, recreation, access to services, among others. ). The immeasurable debt with respect to the aforementioned demands becomes the object of attention, reflection, and agreements between various States, entities, organizations, and conventions.

Around this same time 58 years ago, a group of enthusiastic and dedicated students from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Bogotá dissatisfied with the educational processes and in disagreement with the academic training policies of the conventional Colombian university system, and in an act of Irresistible rebellion, they decided and proclaimed a student renewal movement, to create an Institution that would respond to the youth of a country in need of major changes in its structures.
