Introduction
Marital, Couple and Family Counseling provides students with an introduction to systemic theories and practices for future therapeutic work with couples and families. Clinical skills are developed to help couples and families deal with relationship issues, life cycle and developmental crises, and other issues affecting family and couple life and living. This specialization's curriculum meets the academic requirements for licensure in Marriage & Family Counseling in the State of Florida.
Barry University's Counseling Program has a long history of preparing students to be professional counsellors, scholars, and leaders. Our MS in Counseling programs integrate theory, research, and practice, so graduates are prepared as counsellors and leaders in the field.
An inclusive academic community is fostered through collaboration, scholarly and critical analysis, and respect. Because we value diversity, we are committed to promoting student and system multicultural competence and sensitivity. We train students to become counsellors who assist individuals, couples, and families find solutions and untapped resources to work through challenges that bring them to counselling.
The Council accredits Barry University's Counseling program for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP), which not only meets license requirements in Florida but can give you the portability to pursue opportunities in other states.
